On a call, a founder once told me:
“I hesitate to dive into outreach because what if it doesn’t work? I can’t afford to waste that time block.”
In that moment, I didn’t hear perfectionism, I heard protection.
When time is precious, every hour feels like currency.
So instead of building structure, many experienced founders default to improvisation:
Post when inspiration strikes.
Follow up when you remember.
Ramp up reaching out when things feel slow.
With that “system,” income sees spikes, but nothing hums.

Now that I’ve taught a few hundred founders, I see a pattern. There’s often an unspoken belief underneath their hesitance:
“If I’m this experienced, I should already know what works. I should already have a network. This shouldn’t be that hard.”
I call those the shackles of endless shoulds. They make building a system feel unnecessary, even amateur.
Cue the discomfort.
I get it. But experience without structure creates inconsistency, which screams amateur more than anything.
Research shows companies with documented sales processes see up to 18% higher revenue growth.
Not because they’re more talented but because they reduce decision fatigue.
Look, a system doesn’t guarantee results (no one and nothing can). But systems do guarantee direction.
Instead of asking:
“What if this time block doesn’t pay off?”
Try asking:
“What would make this repeatable?”
Anything can work with enough money or momentum. You just need to get going. A Minimum Viable Pipeline could look like:
– X new connections weekly
– X follow-ups
– X visibility touchpoints (so your buyers and believers can sell themselves on you)
Rhythm doesn’t mean complex. Rhythm means consistent.
When you remove the daily question of “What should I be doing?” or “What should I say?” (new blog!), you conserve energy for better decisions.
Structure’s a decision to stop improvising, not an admission of weakness.
What’s one action you could take every week that future you will thank you for?

glad you’re here :D
